For many of the Chockoraa (Kenyan term translated trash because these are children who have been thrown away) life was a dark, lonely, nightmare. They lived in a world where to escape the hardships associated with being abandoned, they embraced abuses through gangs, drugs, prostitution, and more. They experienced many of the things that you have historically heard, when the subject of orphans comes up, and many times despaired of life while considering ending their own. Then in the midst of this world of darkness they were encountered by a uniquely odd ray of light. This light came in the form of HOPE. At NBOI we base everything that we do on the realization that, as children have proved, you can go days without food, about a week without water, and months without shelter...but you can't live a moment without HOPE.
Join the NBOI community in prayer, with your gifts of love, and your service to benefit the least of these. By doing so you help provide safety, education, and create communities of light in dark environments amongst children and their caregivers. You will aid in continuing the mission and mandate of making disciples of all nations, while being used to raise up a generation in Kenya, other points in Africa, and ultimately the uttermost parts of the world from the dust and trash heap (Psalms 113:5-8). You with NBOI will bring them HOPE, cultivate HOPE that can be seen thru their eyes, and have an impact on them for eternity that multiplies.
o NBOI has a mandate to educate and build the type of spiritual foundation that will enhance not only their lives, but their villages and nations as well. NBOI sees more than hungry children, we see the hearts and minds of future teachers and leaders, the great builders of tomorrow. The time, talent, and tears we invest today is a small payment for the promise that each smile holds.
It is our hope that the posts to this site and on FaceBook and Twitter will inspire you to help us fulfill our mandate to "...bring hope one child at a time..." and see the future smile back at you in gratitude. Join NBOI in whatever capacity you can. Each prayer is perhaps more precious to us than donations though both are needed. Bundle those two with your time and talent when you can spare it, and NBOI will not fail to reach the world, "...ONE CHILD AT A TIME..."
